Pa-hay-okee Trail
Pa-hay-okee Trail is a short boardwalk loop in Everglades National Park that takes its name from the Seminole phrase meaning "grassy waters" — the original description of the Everglades itself. The boardwalk elevates walkers above the sawgrass prairie, ending at a raised observation tower with a panoramic view across the River of Grass.
From the observation platform, the sheer scale of the Everglades becomes clear in a way that ground-level views rarely allow. The open expanse of sawgrass, the distant tree islands, and the broad sky combine for one of the most photogenic viewpoints in the park. Alligators and wading birds are commonly visible from the tower.
